A flexible GDB (GNU Debugger) target description for processor diversity – SFO17-210

Session ID: SFO17-210
Session Name: A flexible GDB (GNU Debugger) target description for processor diversity – SFO17-210
Speaker: Yao Qi
Track: Toolchain

★ Session Summary ★
GDB target description is of XML format to describe the registers and types on a given architecture. As processor architectures exploit diversity, like ARM SVE and ARMv8.3 popinter authentication, the inflexibility in GDB target description emerges. I’ll present the work to address the inflexibility in GDB target description to better support various architectures, and their variants and extensions.
